THE UCMAA EVENT



     UCMAA WORLD INAUGURAL COMMUNICATION FESTIVAL IGNITES STUDENT EMPOWERMENT 

DATE: APRIL 15 -18 ,2024 
VENUE : JF ADE AJAYI AUDITORIUM, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS NIGERIA. 

The 3 days free workshop was hosted by Prof .  Folasade Ogunsola  the VICE CHANCELLOR of UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS  .

The free workshop began Tuesday 16th April to 18th of April 2024(10am daily) .It took place at J.F Ade Ajayi Auditorium in unilag . Some of the course for the workshop were academic writting, book publishing, book editing, business consulting, textile entrepreneurship, marking communication,  content production amongst others.


The discussion "The colloquial " was open by the President  of UMCAA ,Mr Adewale Williams and started with a prayer before the discussion.


The three guest speakers invited for the 3 days work shop were senior Remi ogunpitan chairman of IBST on the first day, Mr Ted on the 2nd day and Mr Simon kolawole on the 3rd day.



The first guest speaker invited for the three days workshop was  senior Remi ogunpitan who is the Chief Executive officer of IBST media and audio visual expert and production consultant. He lectured the topic broadcast in the 24th century.



The 2nd guest speaker who is Mr Ted shared his experience in the field within the students.


   

       On the last day which is the 3rd day of the workshop 18th April 2024 , the Dean of the student affairs Professor  Musa Obalola  who represented  the vice chancellor expressed his delight . His words: " i am delighted to be here this morning . I am here representing our vice chancellor, Enitan of the UNIVERSTY OF LAGOS  ".

         



Coming down to the highlights of the event 

* keynote lecture * 

Mr Simon kolawole , owner and founder of the cable, gave a very good lecture titled" Delimma between journalism and Activism "  said he found the topic interesting because the line between professional journalism and core Activism is disappearing . He also talked about how journalists are activists for truths and they are expected to uphold principles of fairness, accuracy and objectivity. Mr Simon kolawole also said that journalists shouldn't be classified as activist even though they perform similar roles in the society .

    

      


       

           Awarding of hostels Accomodations  .

Prof .  Musa Obalola gave out hostel accommodations to three 100- level students of the Department  of Mass Communication for being able recite the university  anthem.


* Raffle draw*

Twenty students won tickets to lekki cinema which added excitement to the event .


In conclusion,  the President  of the UMCAA Mr Adewale Williams expressed his sincere gratitude to all the students  and the  Head of department, professor Adepoju Tejumaiye for gracing the event with their presence. Also reaffirming the UMCAA commitment to  establishing more empowerment and educational programs for the Department  of Mass Communication.
